Ronald Murphy
Before his illness, Ron Murphy was enjoying meaningful moments visiting family, spending time with his grandchildren, and staying connected to the people who mattered most.
That changed quickly when Ron developed a seasonal illness that rapidly worsened. He was diagnosed with RSV pneumonia, which led to respiratory failure. He required a ventilator to help him breathe while his body healed and experienced additional complications that affected both his physical and mental condition.
By the time Ron began to improve, he had developed significant weakness. He was immobile and had lost function in his left arm, making even basic movements a challenge.
When it came time for the next phase of his recovery, Ron chose Vibra Hospital of the Central Dakotas, a critical care hospital that provides extended recovery and rehabilitation for patients with complex medical needs.
At Vibra Hospital, while his medical team supported his recovery and closely monitored his condition, Ron began working with his therapy team to rebuild his strength. Through physical and occupational therapy, he focused on improving mobility, balance, and overall function.
Over time, Ron regained function in his left arm and improved his ability to move in bed and transition to sitting with minimal assistance. As his strength increased, he was able to stand using a front-wheeled walker, an important milestone in his recovery.
“I feel like I have way more strength,” Ron shared.
Ron credits the entire Vibra Hospital team for supporting him along the way. He shared that his care team’s encouragement helped him stay motivated through each step of the process.
Now continuing his recovery at an inpatient rehabilitation facility, Ron is focused on achieving his goal of returning home and living independently again. More than anything, he looks forward to being back with his family and grandchildren.
Ron, your determination and perseverance have inspired everyone around you. It has been an honor to be part of your recovery journey, and we wish you continued strength and success as you move forward!
